Jiufen

Jiufen is stunningly beautiful. While strolling the routes on the mountains we found the Shinto temple (stone pillars/lanterns) build by the Japanese during the occupation. It does not quite serve any function though, since the religion has no followers here, but at least it's a minor tourist attraction.

The big industrial building is a copperworks depleted of ... copper. But it might very well be the reason the river is orange. It's been used as a backdrop for music video's due to the industrialist fantasy atmosphere is radiates.

I have no idea what the food exactly was. I recognised the squid though.

By the time we wanted to go back home we discovered there were no busses back to the city anymore, so we had take another city bus to Keelung, where we got on the train to Taipei.
